OBJECTIVES:
Knowledge - Participants will know:
- The definition of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) according to the DSM-5
- The cognitive functions of a person with ASD
- The basic principles of structured education (structuring of time, space, and activities) according to the TEACCH program.
Skills - Participants will be able to:
- Identify the needs of students with ASD in the school context
- Contribute to learning alternative tools and methods that enable the student to develop their skills based on their understanding and needs
- Build on the strengths of a person with ASD to develop their abilities
- Implement a framework tailored to the needs of people with ASD in the school environment.
Attitude - Participants will:
- Reflect on the sensory and cognitive experiences of people with ASD
- Learn more about the strengths and difficulties of a person with ASD and their impact on daily life
- Reflect on how the context can be shaped and adapted (structured teaching).
